General Information About Silay International Airport
General Information Whilst located 15km northeast of Bacolod City on an 181-hectare site in Barangay Bagtic in Silay City in Negros Occidental. Constructed to international standards, this airport will become one of three major international airports serving central Philippines - along with Kalibo International Airport of Aklan province and New Iloilo Airport.
Construction began in January 2008 and the airport opened for business on October 8. Designed to handle over one million passengers annually, mixed passenger/cargo services provided by Cebu Pacific Airways, Philippine Airlines, and Air Philippines were made available at this new facility.
RunwayLength and Design
The primary runway measures 45 meters wide by 2,000 meters in length - longer than previous designs. It runs along an azimuth of 03deg/21deg, currently accommodating aircraft up to the Airbus A330 but planned for expansion up to 500 meters later on to be able to handle larger jets.
Building Layout and Facilities
The complex includes a 6,187-square-meter (66,600 sq ft) passenger terminal built over three levels. On the ground level are check-in counters, public concourse and arrival area while on the second level VIP and CIP lounges as well as Air Transportation Office are housed.
On the third floor are located the main viewing deck, concession areas and maintenance/airport machinery rooms. There is also a children's play area, an information desk and mobile charging stations available here.
Cebu International Airport is overseen by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and hosts multiple airlines such as Cebu Pacific Air, Philippine Airlines and All Nippon Airways for domestic as well as some international flights.
