The Alexandria and Pineville airports are both served by England Air Force Base Airport which is owned and managed by England Economic and Industrial Development District.
AEX Airport, owned and operated by the England Authority or England Economic and Industrial Development District is located four nautical miles west of Alexandria in Rapides Parish in Louisiana. It serves the central business district as well as being owned and maintained by this independent political subdivision of Louisiana.
In addition to scheduled commercial airline flights, AEX also serves military personnel transportation needs through chartering of large widebody passenger aircraft. Since September 11, 2001, this airport has played a crucial role in transporting thousands of military personnel and millions of pounds of cargo supporting both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
