Dawei Airport - General Information

Dawei (formerly Tavoy), Tanintharyi Division in Southeastern Myanmar. The airport sits 84 feet (26 m) above mean sea level, and features one runway designated 16/34.

Flights out of Dawei are offered exclusively by domestic airlines. Myanmar Airways currently operates one non-stop route to Kawthaung KAW that covers an approximate 174 mile (280 km).

Dawei Airport does not offer an airline lounge; however, food and drinks may be purchased in the departure hall or onboard as snacks or alcoholic beverages. Furthermore, ATMs and post offices can be found within its terminal building.

Myanmar and Thailand sign a Memorandum of Understanding in May to develop the Dawei Deep Sea Port and Special Economic Zone Project. However, local communities begin raising concerns over this initiative, demanding sustainable development principles as well as environmental and social impact assessments for it.

In March, the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) received a complaint letter from Dawei Development Association and local communities alleging human rights violations associated with Dawei SEZ. NHRCT is currently evaluating its effects and will submit their report by June.
