General Information About Gimpo International Airport
GMP or Gimpo International Airport serves as the main airport of Seoul and acts as its primary gateway into Korea. Formerly known as Kimpo Airport, this international airport opened to service in 1958 as an air base for Japan's Armed Forces before transitioning to an international hub shortly afterwards. Since its expansion, expansion work continues apace.
Terminal one serves international flights and has the capacity to accommodate five million passengers annually. Comprised of four-story building covering an area of 53,090m2, this terminal covers 5 hectares in its operation.
Domestic terminal two is known as Terminal two and boasts a four-storey building covering 837,841ft2 (77,838m2). It handles over 232 arrivals and departures every day.
At the airport are numerous facilities such as car rental services, parking lots, shuttle transportation from and to the airport, taxi access, transportation access and medical service as well as duty-free shops and shops, duty-free shops, post office boxes, ATMs/banks/currency exchange and cafe/restaurants.
