Miho Yonago Airport
General Details Miho Air Base is a Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) facility situated 11 km northwest of Yonago in Tottori Prefecture. Established as an Imperial Japanese Army Air Force airfield during World War II, Miho was attacked by USAAF B-24 Liberator bombers in July 1945 and remains Japan's oldest airport today.
In December 1950, the United States Air Force (USAF) relocated its B-26 Invader light bombers to Miho for training purposes before eventually moving them on to Pusan East (K-9) Air Base in South Korea in May 1951. Miho eventually closed to US military operations in 1957 and became owned by Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
