Healy River Airport (FAA LID: HRR), is open to the public and state-owned, offering commercial airline service subsidized through Essential Air Service program.

This airport features one runway designated 15/33 with an asphalt surface measuring 2,912 by 60 feet, accommodating an aircraft operation rate of an average 108 per month from general aviation and 38% air taxi aircraft operations over 12 months ending December 31st 2005.

Flights between Talkeetna and Kantishna and Healy typically follow various southerly routes depending on weather, with summit flights also common.

Flight Information Publication (FLIP) now contains updated versions of standard terminal arrival route and instrument departure procedures that were affected by NPRM, to ensure IFR flights into Fairbanks International Airport, Ted Stevens International Airport and Healy River Airport will not be negatively impacted by this Act.

FAA, MDA, and United States Space Force (USSF) have developed ATC procedures for flights into SSI. These will continue to be enforced temporarily as flight restrictions during LRDR operations until R-2206 restricted areas have been created.

The NPRM also included HRR approach and departure procedures that will remain unaffected by the SSI. The FAA will continue to modify and publish these procedures until its temporary flight restrictions no longer exist.
