Peony Cultivation, Research, Export and Observation Base in China

Heze is China's premier peony cultivation, research, export and observation base with over 250 species of peony flowers in cultivation and 80 varieties available for export and observation. Additionally, Heze is widely known as being home to Chinese Opera, martial arts, calligraphy painting as well as being a historical resort.

Heze is located at the convergence of four provinces (Shandong, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu) with large cities in each. As it uses traditional heritage as an asset to spur economic prosperity for its citizens, its proximity to key cities in China as well as nearby airports and railway stations creates an advantageous regional economic base for Heze.

Heze's temperate continental monsoon climate provides ideal conditions for cultivating peony flowers. There is ample sunshine throughout the year, with four distinct seasons; July and December being particularly enjoyable months, as temperatures range between 95degF (35degC) to 75degF (24degC).

Air Quality in Heze:

Heze experiences some of the highest levels of air pollution nationwide during January and February, when heavy rainfalls and strong wind speeds occur. These months also tend to experience frequent heavy downpours.

Water Level in Heze:

Heze's shallow groundwater derives primarily from Yellow River and is replenished through rainfall, groundwater extraction for agriculture irrigation purposes and evaporation in winter months. From November until March the level remains relatively constant until it begins declining due to less precipitation than normal coupled with increased groundwater use for crops irrigating purposes that in turn leads to less groundwater being available across Heze and its surroundings.
