General Information About Barnstable Municipal Airport

Situated on 623 acres near Hyannis, Barnstable Municipal Airport serves Cape Cod's area as its third busiest airport and serves Cape Air, Nantucket Airlines, Island Airlines as well as providing various charter and corporate aircraft operations.

In 2011, the airport unveiled a 35,000-square-foot terminal and 85-foot air traffic control tower, along with improvements such as aircraft apron upgrades, an updated vehicle access road and additional enhancements.

Planning began over two decades ago when the state pledged to provide financial aid, according to Airport Manager Roland "Bud" Breault. According to him, this project involved taking an "integrated approach" with construction phasing as key element for its timely completion.

The new building, designed to serve both commercial and general aviation, also houses an advanced aircraft maintenance shop that will reduce HYA's operating costs by an estimated $20 million over 10 years.

At its heart, a major objective of the modernization project for Bozeman Airport was to meet changing regional transportation expectations, said Airport Manager Katie Servis during Thursday night's town council meeting. She noted how this rebranding will enhance overall image and expand revenue streams.

As part of its efforts to kick-off this project, airport officials held public relations and community meetings, wherein some of the primary needs for modernization were identified; including realigning three taxiways or moving them according to current standards; and expanding runway 15-33 so as to accommodate existing fleet.
