General Details Hasvik Airport is situated on Soroya island off Norway's Troms og Finnmark county and served by Hasvik Municipality as part of Troms og Finnmark county in 2012. Avinor ran this airport during 2012 with approximately 7,629 passengers passing through it.
Wideroe operates from its 909-meter (2,982 ft) runway aligned 11/29 and uses Dash 8-100 aircraft for service to Hammerfest and Tromso before continuing onward to other villages and towns throughout Finnmark.
Hasvik Airport opened on 17 May 1973 as a gravel airstrip with a basic terminal building, later upgraded with asphalted runways featuring additional navigation aids.
Hasvik Airport came under state and Civil Aviation Administration control on 1 January 1997; with an expanded terminal and control tower.
Upgrades were performed primarily to allow Norving to continue operating their air taxi service to Hammerfest and Alta, first established with Britten-Norman Islander aircraft back in 1983. They cost NOK 5.8 million in total with grants coming from Norving itself as well as grants from local interests.
