General Details Invercargill Airport, situated in New Zealand, is a small provincial airport that boasts being the southernmost controlled airport in New Zealand.
Invercargill Airport is situated one nautical mile west of its city center on an old estuary lake site reclaimed as part of a reclamation effort. This location was selected because it is closer to Invercargill than Dawson Farm Aerodrome which was located some 10km northeast.
Attractively designed and well managed small airport with an inviting terminal area. After undertaking major upgrades to extend its main runway to allow aircraft up to 7250ft in length to land safely.
Air New Zealand flights typically depart Invercargill on regular turboprop and jet flights to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch from Invercargill. Each day there are eight departures with turboprops and three departures with jets.
