This airport is named in honor of Norman McLeod Rogers, former MP (Kingston City 1935-1940) who served in Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King's Cabinet as Minister for Labour and National Defence before tragically dying in a plane crash near Toronto while traveling from Ottawa for speaking engagements on June 10, 1940.
