General information about Kinmen Airport Kinmen Airport (Shang Yi Airport) is Taiwan's primary international airport located at Shangyi Village in Jinhu Town within Kinmen County of Taiwan Province and owned and managed by Republic of China Air Force (ROCAF).

Since 1987, Taiwan Island and Kinmen's flight route have been reestablished and are used by both domestic and international airlines to connect various cities on mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and in Taiwan.

Travel to and from Kinmen Fly from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport to Kinmen, which lies 10 kilometers offshore. This flight typically takes 30 minutes and costs approximately NT$650 one way; alternatively you could use a ferry service from either Xiamen or Quanzhou which typically takes 1 hour and costs about NT$160 one way.

Today it stands as an iconic national landmark and symbol for Kinmen. Built with imitating palatial architecture featuring blue tiles and red pillars reminiscent of an imperial palace design; Juguang Tower symbolizes national defense and reunification within Kinmen itself.

Transport

The airport is accessible via bus or taxi service from both Jincheng and Shanwai towns, taking around 25-30 minutes each way to reach its location.

If traveling to Kinmen during spring, it is wise to plan in advance, as weather may prevent flights and ferries from running regularly - particularly between late March and early May. Those with flexible schedules should still be able to find seats on flights/ferries that depart soon after weather clears up.
