General Info and Facilities in Lincoln Airport in Lancaster County, Nebraska is both a public and military airport owned by the city and managed by Lincoln Airport Authority. The primary runway measures 12,901 feet long and can accommodate heavy military aircraft such as C-5 Galaxys and Boeing E-4s.
History
This airport originally began life as a Strategic Air Command (SAC) base supporting B-47 Stratojet bombers and KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft before closing by the US Air Force in 1966.
Today LNK serves as a supplementary regional airport for Lincoln, providing smaller commercial and recreational flights as well as being home for Lincoln Air National Guard's 155th Air Refueling Wing.
Lincoln Airport is home to Duncan Aviation, a family-owned aircraft maintenance and refurbishing company located on both sides of the airport - hangars on the east and parts storage on both.
