General Information About Monbetsu Airport
Hokkaido's most recently constructed airport, Monbetsu Airport (IATA: MBE, ICAO: RJEB) can be found just 3.8 nautical miles southeast of Monbetsu city on the Sea of Okhotsk and is 15 minutes away by bus from its center and Monbetsu Bus Terminal.
Hokkaido Air System began servicing New Chitose Airport outside Sapporo with general aviation flights when it first opened its facility in November 1999, initially providing general aviation flights. Air Nippon soon established daily service from that year forward with daily 737-700 flights between Sapporo and Tokyo International Airports - and moved its Sapporo service from New Chitose Airport outside Sapporo to Okadama Airport by 2001, before ceasing all operations altogether by 2003. Hokkaido Air System resumed daily service back to New Chitose during 2013.
