Sogndal Airport Haukasen

Situated 19 kilometers outside of Sogndal is Sogndal Airport Haukasen. A relatively unutilized airport with flights to Bergen and Oslo as well as smaller Norwegian cities like Troms. Although less popular among travellers than driving directly there can be useful when coming directly into Sogndal without driving alone.

Sogndal Bus to City Center

One relatively economical way of traveling between Sogndal Airport and Sogndal City Centre is via local Kringom bus FB58 which leaves 5-6 times daily and costs 80 NOK per adult ticket. While not the fastest ride, this Kringom service does offer convenient and relatively comfortable journeys from airport to Sogndal city center.

Parking for airport photographers

Near the landing lights is an excellent spot for photographing aircraft departures head on. Simply walk around slightly to vary the angle depending on what kind of photos you wish to capture.

The airport entrance is conveniently located across the road, making it simple and quick to arrive by car or public transit (bus 35 towards Kjevik-Brattvollsheia or 36 towards Tveit-Birkeland; get off at Kjevikkrysset or Boenkrysset for Kjevikkrysset or Boenkrysset). Additionally, parking can be found along a gravel road that leads directly down to an attractive marina and beach at the northern end of runway 66

Photographing planes arriving and departing runway 21 from here is the ideal way, though wind may sometimes make this spot less ideal. Trees partially block your view, though you may still get decent shots with a short ladder or lens.
