Tom Madsen Airport This airport serves Unalaska and Dutch Harbor on Amaknak Island in the Aleutian Islands 800 miles west of Anchorage. Formerly known as Unalaska Airport, in 2002 it was changed to honor Charles Thomas Madsen Sr. who died tragically that year during a plane accident, in its name being changed to Tom Madsen Airport as his legacy lives on through Unalaska residents who still visit this region today.
