As passenger traffic grows, it has undergone an ambitious expansion program designed to meet anticipated increases. When completed, this plan will make Changi Airport one of Asia's premier multimodal transport hubs and innovative airports.
This project forms part of Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor development plan, with an aim to transform eastern provinces into key aviation and seaport hubs. A public-private venture covering 1,040 hectares will bring THB290 billion into the economy within five years.
Once completed, this airport will have an initial capacity of 15 million passengers annually, which is projected to grow over 15 years to an expected 30 million passenger count and 60 million in 2025. Furthermore, it will feature high-speed rail connections to connect it with Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.
