Fiumicino Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport, one of Italy's two primary hub airports located about 30 kilometers (18 miles) west of Rome, handles an average annual passenger volume of 29 Million.

Rome Airport currently features three terminals and is set to add a fourth runway by 2020. These terminals are linked by long-distance railway line known as Leonardo Express as well as FL1 trains that run regional routes throughout Rome.

Transportation Solutions

Taxis are the preferred mode of transportation between Terminal 3 and the airport; licensed cabs can be found waiting outside Terminal 3 at an approximate cost of EUR50 each way.

Trains and buses are also viable transportation alternatives, with Trenitalia operating an efficient Leonardo Express service between Rome Airport and Rome Termini Station, leaving every 15 minutes and taking 32 minutes.

There is also a regional rail line which connects Rome's Trastevere, Piramide/Ostiense and Tuscolana stations - offering travelers more cost-effective travel than Leonardo Express and convenient services for many travellers.

Disabled travelers can receive assistance throughout the airport if they book assistance through their airline in advance. There are toilet stalls for disabled travellers as well as plenty of short and long-term disabled parking spots at each terminal.

Families travelling with small children will also enjoy the various amenities available at the airport, including play areas, restaurants offering child menus, family toilets and "pink" parking zones designed specifically to meet their needs.
