General Details MBS International Airport is located in Freeland, Michigan and serves the surrounding communities of Midland, Bay City and Saginaw. Formerly known as Tri-City Airport or Freeland Tri-City Airport, in 1994 it changed to MBS International Airport to avoid confusion between various other airports that use its IATA code of MBS.
The airport is owned and governed by both Midland and Saginaw cities and administered by an 11-member commission that represents each. This MBS International Airport Commission oversees many tasks at the airport such as planning, implementing, monitoring its operations and overseeing terminal building developments.
Since opening its doors, MBS International Airport has been served by numerous airlines including US Airways and Delta Air Lines as well as regional carriers that have operated here.
